This partial torso of a discus thrower reproduces a fragment of the original bronze statue, now lost, created by the Greek sculptor Naucydes in the early 4th century BC. A reproduction of the whole statue is on display in the Louvre Museum's galleries. The bust presented here is a version called "fragment of bronze." Very elegant oxidised bronze patina.
